Halloween on a Friday of fall back weekend was a perfect combination. Collin wore his costume to school for their fairy tale ball, and Maya and I posed before I headed to work for a few hours. I learned that next year, we're taking pictures in costumes before Halloween, because I didn't get a single decent photo of them together once we hit the neighborhood.
In our orange -
This girl is such a joy!Our ninja. He told people he was Rafael from the Ninja Turtles. Really, his dad found a cheap ninja costume at Costco and tried to sell him that it was Rafael's costume since it was red. This is likely our last year we can get away with this type of manipulation!
Happy the morning of Halloween (also in the background, I need to put my shoes away - two separate shoes that I kick off the second I walk in the door) -
Friday evening we crashed our friends' neighborhood party. It was the neighborhood my great aunt and uncle lived in, just a few minutes from our home, but filled with winding streets, tons of kids, and village police handing out glow sticks. We went to the neighborhood block party, where Collin tried his hand at the doughnut game - where you put your hands behind your back and tried to eat a doughnut on a string. You just had to ignore all the bites marks on the doughnuts of the kids that tried the game before you.
Hard work for a taste of sugar -
Little helping hand from Daddy -
And this is why we crashed the neighborhood party - does it get more fun than this?!?
Maya the clown in front, Collin the ninja a few feet behind -
And a close up of Collin next to his classmate, Ellie. They were so cute when they saw each other, running up to give one another a big hug -
Trick or treating. Maya worked so hard, pumping her right arm to keep up with Collin and our friends Riley and Reese.
This girl slept until 9:15 - an all time record - Saturday morning after a fun night trick-or-treating
She wouldn't wear the clown hat, so I tried to paint a red nose and cheek on her. Everyone just thought she had fallen and cut her nose. Mom fail.
Once we were finished trick or treating, we spent a few minutes handing out candy to the kids at our friends' home. Or in Maya's case, spent a few minutes sneaking lollipops out of the candy bowl intended for others.
We had a magical Halloween. It was so fun to spend the night with friends at the perfect neighborhood party that reminded me of my Halloweens as a kid.
