At a day short of 7 weeks old, we took Maya on her first big outing to the Children's Museum. She napped the first half, but then woke up for sensory overload. She spent most of the time in the stroller, but was an angel, just looking around when she was awake.
And Collin was a maniac! We went straight to, luckily, the calmest room in the museum and stayed there 90% of the time. It's a room most kids miss or don't stay long in, but for some reason, has been Collin's favorite hangout the last few visits. He made a beeline for the puppet area and stayed there over an hour. Sometimes the frog was nice, sometimes he was crazy -
A few weeks ago he visited the museum with Grammy and B, and Collin later told me that when other children wanted to play with his favorite puppets - the wolf and fox - he would reason with them that it was a bad fox and bad wolf and they'd eat them up. Today I forced him to reluctantly share, though he guarded the fox when a crowd joined the puppet stage. The fox and the turtle were not friends -
Over and over (and over and over) the fox would scare the turtle and the turtle was expected to tuck into its shell.
A few mintues before we needed to leave to feed Maya, we convinced Collin to move to a new area, posing by the fishing area with the awake and content Maya -
We had a great first trip to the museum, though I'm not sure when I'll be brave enough to try it without my mom!
